IGNOU has launched the OAMS portal to make the assignment submission process transparent and trackable. Students who have already submitted their assignments offline at their Study Centre or Regional Centre do not need to resubmit them online via OAMS. Which students will not be required to submit their assignments again on OAMS?
The PIB press release issued by the Ministry of Education on October 28, 2026, contains clear rules regarding this, which are as follows –
- Students who have already passed the assignments related to their course for this session are not required to submit them online again.
- Students who have already submitted their course assignments offline for the December 2026 term-end examinations are not required to upload them again on OAMS.
- Those who have submitted a hard copy at the study center and possess a valid submission slip
- If you have already submitted your assignment offline and subsequently submitted it online via OAMS, there is a risk of it being evaluated twice. Please avoid such a situation. Because doing so could lead to a clash of marks in the system, and your result might be placed on hold.
If you have made the assignment offline, keep the receipt safe.
If you submitted your assignment before the online submission system (OAMS) became active, you should have an assignment submission receipt or acknowledgment. Please keep this document safe and make a photocopy of it; should any issues arise regarding your submission status, you may need to make inquiries at your study center. You will need to provide the information contained in the receipt when making such inquiries. If you are enrolled in more than one course, you must upload assignments for all of them.The receipt contains the following information
- Enrollment number and program name.
- Relevant course code.
- Session for which the assignment was submitted.
- Date of submission and receipt details.

What should you do if your assignment has been submitted in both places (offline and online) by mistake?
- If you have accidentally submitted your assignment in both places, there is no need to worry. This will not lead to the cancellation of your admission or examination.
- Send an email to your regional center regarding this. Clearly state that you have mistakenly submitted your assignment both offline and online. Also, attach your receipt to the email so that the staff member managing the system can delete one of your entries.
How to confirm IGNOU assignment submission for 2026 on OAMS?
- Log in to your registered IGNOU Samarth student portal account.
- View the online acknowledgement for the assignments you have submitted via OAMS.
- According to the university, this acknowledgement will be available on the portal following a successful submission.
- Check your registered email. An acknowledgement of successful submission will also be sent there.
- Keep the acknowledgement safe. Use your Samarth student account to check the evaluation status of your assignment.
Important: Confirmation of assignment submission and the status of its evaluation are two different things. Verify submission via the acknowledgement receipt; check for evaluation details once they become available in your account.
