The University Grants Commission (UGC) is the primary body in India responsible for higher education and the recognition of universities. Today, degrees for various courses—such as BA, BCom, BSc, and MBA—can be obtained online. Based on the clear regulations of the UGC and DEB, only those universities that comply with the rules prescribed by the UGC and possess NAAC accreditation are authorized to offer online degrees. Working professionals, homemakers, and students living in remote areas can now obtain online degrees in various subjects from UGC-recognized universities. However, there has also been an increase in institutions that issue fake degrees. In this article, we will discuss UGC-approved online degree courses, the list of UGC-approved universities, and the list of fake universities.
